You're in
charge.

Honne is built so the unflattering version of what you want to say has a safe place to land. No ads, no profiles, nothing sold, nothing used for training.

What you control.

Nobody else can be added

There are no shared accounts and no way to invite another person into yours. Not a setting — a rule.

An optional PIN

A short code, separate from your password, for the times your phone isn't only yours.

Quick exit

One tap swaps this page for a weather site, and the back button won't bring it back. It can't erase the visit from your browser's history — no website can. If that matters, use a private or incognito window.

Delete everything

One action removes every conversation, every message, and the account behind them.

Encrypted, not end-to-end

TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest. Strong, standard, and honest about what it doesn't cover.

Still curious?

The plain answers.

Yes. Honne does not run its own model. To answer you, the text of your conversation is sent over an encrypted connection to Anthropic, which generates the reply and sends it back.

That is the one place your words leave our systems. There is no advertising network, no analytics vendor, and no data broker in the path.

No. We use Anthropic's commercial API, whose terms state that inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. We do not train anything on your conversations either, and we never license them to anyone who would.

By us: for as long as you keep the conversation. Delete it and it is gone from our database. Delete your account and everything goes with it.

By Anthropic: they may retain API inputs and outputs for a limited period for trust-and-safety purposes — currently up to 30 days — after which they are deleted. We do not control that window, and we would rather tell you it exists than let you assume it doesn't.

Technically, yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, but we hold the keys, so this is not end-to-end encrypted and we will not pretend otherwise.

In practice: we do not read conversations, we do not build profiles from them, and there is no internal tool for browsing them. An automated job assigns each conversation a single topic label for aggregate statistics; it produces a category and nothing else, and no person sees the conversation. Access to the production database is restricted to the people who maintain it, and is used for keeping the service running — not for reading what you wrote. If we are ever compelled by valid legal process, we will comply, and we will tell you unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.

Any single conversation can be deleted from your history. To remove everything, use Delete account in Settings. That erases your conversations, messages, anything Honne remembered about you, and the account itself.

Encrypted database backups roll off within 30 days, so a deleted account can persist in backup storage until then. Backups are not searchable and are never used to restore an individual account.

An email address so you can sign in, and billing details held by Stripe if you subscribe — we never see your card number. Product analytics are anonymous and contain no conversation text.

No ads, no ad tracking, no selling of anything to anyone.

Legal

Privacy notice.

Last updated 15 August 2026. This notice explains how HONNE LLC handles personal data.

1. Who we are

Honne is operated by HONNE LLC (“Honne”, “we”), which is the data controller for the personal data described here — we decide why and how it is processed. Contact us at hello@honneapp.com.

2. What we collect and why

  • Account data (email address, password hash, PIN hash, authentication identifiers) — to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Onboarding preferences (the name you'd like to be called, focus area, and how you heard about us) — to tailor the experience and understand where people find us. Legal basis: contract performance and our legitimate interest in understanding how the service grows.
  • Conversation content (what you write and the responses you receive) — to provide the service. Legal basis: contract performance.
  • Conversation topic (a single category such as “breakup” or “communication”, generated automatically by a scheduled job) — so we can see what people need help with in aggregate. It is attached to the conversation, not to your profile, it is never shown to anyone, and it is deleted with the conversation. The text itself is never stored outside your account and is never reviewed by a person. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the service.
  • Usage and device data (message counts, timestamps, IP address, browser type, anonymous product analytics) — for security, abuse prevention, rate limiting and improving the product. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in running a safe, working service.
  • Preview usage (a one-way hash of your IP address, and whether a preview was served or refused) — collected when anyone tries Honne from our homepage without an account, so a single network can't use the preview without limit. The text of a preview is never stored. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping a free service available.
  • Support messages — to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Billing records (plan, subscription status, transaction reference) — to give you access to what you paid for and to meet accounting obligations. Legal basis: contract performance and legal obligation. Card details are never received or stored by us.

We do not sell personal data, we do not use your conversations to train AI models, and we do not run advertising profiles.

3. Who we share data with

  • Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates — our payment processor, acting for HONNE LLC. Stripe receives the personal data needed for the sale: your name, email, billing address, location and payment details, which you provide directly at checkout. Stripe processes payments, subscription billing, fraud prevention, tax calculation and invoicing under its own privacy policy.
  • Anthropic — processes your messages to generate responses, under a commercial agreement that prohibits training on your content.
  • Infrastructure and tooling providers — hosting, database, email delivery and anonymous product analytics, acting as our processors.
  • Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities, where required by law or to protect someone from serious harm.

Some providers are located outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, transfers rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

4. How long we keep it

  • Conversations — until you delete them. If you set auto-delete in settings, they are removed on that schedule. Deleting your account removes all conversations and messages.
  • Account data — for as long as your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of closure.
  • Security and usage logs — up to 12 months.
  • Billing records — up to 7 years, where tax and accounting law requires it.

Data that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and — for UK/EEA residents — complain to your data protection supervisory authority. You can delete conversations and your account yourself from settings at any time.

To make any other request, email hello@honneapp.com from your account email. We respond within 30 days and never charge for a request or treat you differently for making one.

6. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures: encryption in transit and at rest, hashed passwords and PINs, access controls limiting staff access, row-level database isolation between accounts, and rate limiting. No system is perfectly secure, and we hold the encryption keys — see “What we can’t do” above.

7. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in sessions and the PIN lock — these cannot be turned off without breaking the service. We use privacy-preserving, anonymous analytics to understand aggregate product usage. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though sign-in will stop working.

8. Children

Honne is for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

We will update this notice as the service changes and will note the new date above. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
